President’s Message:
Hello Twin Rivers Shag Club Members
On Sunday July 11, the club hosted the “All American Party” which Sylvia planned and arranged. There were games, and Claude offered a hot dog dinner to all who wanted it. Gail King obtained cardboard Chevrolet center pieces from Andy’s Cheesesteaks and Cheesburgers when she made a donation on behalf of TRSC to Andy’s fundraiser, “Make a Wish.” Thanks Gail! Juliet Meyer, Carol Jordan and Vickie Kindler decorated Attitudes with red, white, and blue; T-Bird played his usual mix of great shag music. We had forty-six attend the party! What a wonderful way to celebrate “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Boogie!” Thanks to all who played a part in making this event a success.
The next event is “The Oar House Reunion” which is being presented by Attitudes Pub and Grille and Twin Rivers Shag Club, and will be held Saturday, August 28. As usual, it will be a good one.
And don’t forget, The Second Annual Fred Anders Amateur Shag Contest will be held on October 16. Raymond Rigsbee and his special committee are hard at work making arrangements. If they ask you for help, please do.
The Ways and Means Committee is smack in the middle of their “Barb-B-Q for 50” Raffle. Please, sell you raffle tickets, and turn them in in a timely manner. Also, I still have an ample supply of Fun Monday Raffle tickets. (I sorta feel like a preacher, asking ya’ll to raise this money, but it has to be done.) Like I have said before, the club is tasked with selling 100 tickets, and I would really like for us to accomplish this.
On the weekend of July 9-11, The ACSC Summer workshop was held in Fayetteville. The Fayetteville Area Shag Association (FASA) hosted a great party. They went out of their way to assure everyone had a good time. Hats off to them.
At the ACSC/SOS meeting, elections of officers were held. Ken Akin was elected chairman; John Reynolds was elected vice chairman. Sonny Brown was re-elected as secretary and Allen Henry was re-elected as treasurer. We should all thank the folks for donating their time and talents to the ACSC. By the way, eight members of TRSC attended the Summer Workshop.
On Saturday, July 17, Gail’s Dance Party returned to Attitudes. DJs Betty Brown and Doug Lyon blew the roof off with some of the best Blues known to man. Thank you Gail, Jo Lynn and Bobby for a great party!
I hope to see everyone at Attitudes soon. The more, the merrier! Until then,
Good Shaggin’
Rich
